I felt kinda the same way as you reading this book. It was a bit meh for me. It had good points but the story was dragged out far too much. All the filler was not particularly interesting and just served to clutter my mind with unimportant stuff. The series picks up a bit after this. Book 3 was the best (or at least the second half of it, the first half was just filler.) And then it goes downhill again. I really didn't like the last book because Mead didn't round off the series. If you want all the answers, you will have to read the spinoff series and I don't like that. A series shouldn't depend on a spinoff series to answer all the questions IT raised.
